Palike Commissioner Siddaiah has urged people not to walk close to dilapidated or newly-built compound walls. People living in low-lying areas have been asked to take shelter at elevated places to escape the deluge that might be caused due to heavy showers. It has suggested not to allow senior citizens and children near drains during rains; not to park vehicles below trees and not to stand near trees which are likely to fall due to gutsy winds.

The Palike will fence all tertiary Storm Water Drains in the City. The fencing will be taken up along with the cleaning of primary drains to remove any obstruction hampering free flow of rain water. It has asked people to be patient with the flow of water which in a downpour of 45 mm will take atleast 30 minutes to clear.
The Palike control room could be alerted about any waterlogging in houses in low-lying areas.
