Archakas meet on August 3

The Association has been demanding increase in tasdik, financial assistance, provided for archakas from Rs 1,000 to Rs 5,000 a month. The Association president Sampath Ramachandran said the amount provided at present is insufficient to meet the expenses incurred towards offering naivedya and oil for lamps in the temples.

The Association is also against to the proposed revision of Endowment Act, which brings all the existing five area-specific laws under one. Besides the Association demands increase in payment to assistants to archakas from Rs 20 or Rs 30 per month to Rs 500 a month. The president said that association would raise these demands in the one-day conference.
