Last Updated 08 August 2010, 19:43 IST

The dictionary was originally complied by Reverend Etienne Louis Charobonnaux and printed in 1861. A team of five from Akhila Karnataka Cat- holic Christian Kannada Sangha re-worked on the dictionary and is now ready for the release.

Minister for science and technology Ramachandra Gowda  expressed the need for unity among all religions for development of the society. He said the foreign christian missionaries played an important role in spreading education and extending health and community services.

They helped every individual beyond their religious background. “I appreciate the achievement of Akhila Karnataka Catholic Christian Kannada Sangha in reprinting the dictionary. The government will support any cause that gives the message of equality,” he  added.

A requisition letter was handed over to the minister for the permission to set up Janapada institution by the sangha.
