The theatrical promo of Sajid Nadiadwala’s romantic comedy Anjaana Anjaani released on August 6.

Anjaana Anjaani, the zingy romantic comedy from the house of Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, brings together two of the most popular heart-throbs of the country — Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra, for the very first time. The movie has been directed by Siddharth Anand.

Based on the concept of living each day as if it’s your last, Anjaana Anjaani follows the life of Akash (Ranbir Kapoor) and Kiara (Priyanka Chopra), two strangers who meet at the end of their journeys, only to discover that they have a lot more to live and learn.

Confident that the audiences will fall in love with the lead pair of the film, says producer Sajid Nadiadwala, “Apart from Priyanka and Ranbir being a fresh combination, it’s the first pure, young and cool love story from my banner, Nadiadwala Grandsons.” In true Sajid Nadiadwala style, the romantic comedy with a twist is shot entirely in the US, primarily New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and San Francisco, with peppy tracks and larger-than-life
visuals. Adds director Siddharth Anand, “The thought behind Anjaana Anjaani is that all great love stories start out as people meeting as strangers before they fall in love with each other. The film is a twisted one with a twang and all that jazz.” Nadiadwala’s Anjaana Anjaani releases on September 24.

Awaiting Bond’s return

Actor Daniel Craig, who played the role of James Bond in Casino Royale and Quantum Of Solace, can’t wait to reprise his role as the iconic British spy.

The next installment of the hit movie franchise, which would see the 42-year-old star reprise his role as the suave spy for the third time, has been placed on hold indefinitely due to finance problems with studio MGM but the actor is hoping the difficulties can be resolved soon.

“The new Bond movie is on hold but I am champing at the bit to get going on it as quickly as possible. I love playing Bond — I don’t want to be away from it for too long,” Craig said.

It is being said that producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson, who have worked on a number of the spy movies including the two Bond movies with Craig, are concerned that delays to the 23rd movie in the series could kill off the franchise.

“They are completely panicked that if they go five to six years without a Bond movie, it will be over. They don’t want to kill the golden goose,” said a source.

A gain for ‘Aisha’

In the industry of entertainment, someone’s loss becomes another person’s gain.

The same holds true for debutant actor Amrita Puri. She is an amchi Mumbai mulgi who will was seen in Anil Kapoor Productions Aisha. She plays the character of Harriet Smith from Jane Austen’s book Emma. Prior to Aisha, Amrita has been a part of many ads as a model.

But what many aren’t aware of is that this pretty girl’s first brush with stardom would have been in Dibakar Banerjee’s Love Sex Aur Dhoka.

“I had auditioned for Aisha and bagged the role. Soon after that, I auditioned for LSD because I knew that Dibakar was directing it and I really wanted to work with him. I gave the audition and forgot about it because I thought I had not done a great job. I tend to be very critical of myself. I finalised my dates for Aisha. Then to my surprise, Dibakar liked my audition and I got selected for LSD too. Like the saying goes, when it rains it pours. Unfortunately, the dates for both the films were clashing and I had to pass on LSD,” says Amrita Puri. The role was eventually played by Shruti.

“I tried to sort out the dates but it was just not possible. I hope to work with Dibakar in the future. I have heard great things about him from Abhay Deol, who is my co-star in Aisha,” adds Amrita excitedly.

Arriving in style

Alice Braga has worked on several action-oriented and sci-fi films but she had a funny experience on the first day of shoot of Predators. The pretty actress landed on the sets in a dress and was immediately teased by her co-stars about it. She quips, “The first day I came to set wearing a dress and (co-star) Oleg Taktarov looked at me and said, ‘You can’t wear a dress for this film’. I said, ‘What do you mean? I’m a girl. You better be careful what you say because I’m carrying a gun!’”

Alice adds that though she had fun on the sets with her male co-stars, being surrounded by men all the time made her long for some female company. “I was dying to hang out with the girls from the crew while I wasn’t on set because I found myself talking about motorcycles. I thought to myself, ‘I really need to get a manicure right now’.” Predators opened in Indian theatres on August 6.
