<p>Hearing a petition filed by Syed Arifulla Habibu, Justice Rammohan Reddy observed that instead of taking action against the two AEEs, B V Satish and R V Govindaraju, the BBMP had promoted them.<br /><br />Despite the Principal Secretary of Urban Development Department indicting both the engineers for violating provisions of building bye-laws, Satish was promoted as in-charge chief engineer at the BBMP. <br /><br />Justice Reddy said he failed to understand the actions of the Palike for promoting the erring AEE Satish. <br /><br />Dereliction of duty<br /><br />“He was indicted by the government for dereliction of duties. This shows the reprehensive behaviour of the chief executive officer of BBMP," he observed.<br /><br />In an earlier hearing, the court had found that the two engineers had permitted the construction of a commercial building in a residential area.</p>
