<p> <br />Speaking with reporters after a meeting with officials of Infrastructure Development, Chief Minister Yeddyurappa said Scomi-Geodesic has come forward to execute the work on 15-km mono rail network in the first phase, the tender for which will soon be floated. <br /><br />The company had submitted its proposal during the Global Investors’ Meet. It has quoted Rs 140 crore to per kilometre of the proposed rail network. <br /><br />The project is the first taken up by the Government under Swiss Challenge. Under this method, a global tender will be floated based on the technical and financial parameters proposed by the Malaysian firm. Any company can then challenge any component of the original proposal. <br /><br />Expert committee<br /><br />The Government will then set up an expert committee to evaluate the original proposal with that of those challenging it. It will finally select a proposal or a mix of proposals, as a project and give its nod for implementation, officials said. The company’s original proposal is to set up a 58 kms of mono rail network in three corridors in Bangalore. The alignment has been planned within 5 to 7 kms radius of the Vidhana Soudha. <br /><br />It has proposed 55 stations, including inter-change stations at Sujatha theatre near Rajajinagar, Hudson circle and St John’s Hospital, and three depots. <br /><br />The company has proposed to integrate the mono rail with other mass rapid transit systems being implemented in the City, including the Metro rail.</p>
