Another life snuffed out in Yelwal

 
A pedestrian who had been battling for death in a hit-and-run case has succumbed on Thursday. The deceased has been identified as Devendra (60) of Hamunantha Nagar in Srirangapatna taluk.

According to the cops, Devendra and his son Mahadevu had come in search of job here on Wednesday.  The duo was crossing the road after having tea, when Devendra was knocked down by a speeding two-wheeler on Lingadevaru Koppal and Maidanahalli road, around 5 pm.

Mahadevu had rushed his father to K R Hospital in an ambulance. However, Devendra breathed his last on Thursday morning.

In a span of three days, four persons including two kids have lost their lives in separate mishaps that had occurred in rural and city police stations limits.

Cellphone thieves held

City Crime Branch (CCB) personnel have arrested two youth on charges of stealing cellphones and have recovered 40 handsets worth Rs one lakh from them recently. Sahil and Irfan of Bangalore are the accused. Acting on a tip off, the cops swooped on a gang of five who were selling the mobile phones on K T Street. Among them, three escaped, while two were apprehended. 

During interrogation, they confessed to the crime. The police team was led by ACP Nagaraj, consisting of Inspector Jaykumar, SI Sandeep Kumar, ASI Jayasheelan among others.

Woman dies

A 25-year-old homemaker has died of burns in the city on Wednesday.
Geetha wife of Manju of Puttegowdanahundi is that unfortunate. She had suffered burns when she caught fire while setting desi boiler. Mysore south police have registered a case.

Bail extended

Viniv Inc Shastry accused of multi-crore scam, deposed before a court in the city on Thursday. 

His bail term was extended up to September 27. Shastry who is currently on bail, arrived here from Bangalore. Recently, a few of his properties were auctioned to pay his investors.
