This is a final warning for such officials. Besides initiating stern action, their ‘negligent’ attitude will be brought to the notice of chief secretary.

Participating in public grievances meeting and phone-in-programme here, he said every officer should attend the meeting which is held on every third Thursday at 10 am. Those who cannot attend the meeting under extreme condition, have to take written permission from the deputy commissioner well in advance. Whatever grievances received from general public will be scanned and sent to departments concerned. The officials should inform in the next meeting regarding action taken to redress grievances.

Non-furnishing details show as the grievance has not been attended. The officials concerned owe an explanation for it, he added.

Gupta advised officials to come fully prepared for the meeting with number of complaints received as well as action taken to redress the same. The officials have to reply to the complaints over the phone. This is possible only if they come prepared for the meeting, he felt.

Earlier, more than 35 persons called up from different parts of the district and brought to the notice of the DC about the problems in their respective places. The DC personally noted down all the details and promised to initiate action at the earliest.

Most of the grievances were related to encroachments in the district, absence of building for first grade college, lack of KSRTC buses from T Narasipur, steps taken on applications for akrama-sakrama, non-availability of treatment at a hospital during night, non distribution of certificates for namdhari community, irregularities and non-distribution of ration cards.

The DC said the phone-in-programme is restricted for people outside Mysore City Corporation and Mysore Urban Development Authority, as they cannot come to district headquarters. The Mysoreans are free to attend the meeting on every third Thursdays and submit applications seeking redressal of their grievances. “If necessary, I will only visit the spot personally and take necessary action”.

SP Ramasubba and Additional Deputy Commissioner Dr C J Betsurmutt were among the senior officials who participated in the meeting.
