KFCC urges BBMP to relax ad norms

The contingent led by KFCC President, Basant Kumar Patil and members including former president Jayamala and producer Rockline Venkatesh presented their case before the mayor, seeking a display of a minimum of 500 hoardings in the City, which will cater exclusively to the Kannada films industry.

With the BBMP restricting pasting of posters on City walls, advertising of the Kannada cinema has gone down, amounting to heavy loss of revenue.

“We cannot afford to spend huge amount on publicity,” said KFCC President Basant Kumar Patil. During his meeting with the Mayor, he said the Palike had already allotted the KFCC to display 50 hoardings during the tenure of the erstwhile Palike Commissioner, Bharat Lal Meena.

“We can only hope that you address our pleas,” said Jayamala.

The KFCC has presented a case for nearly 1,000 hoardings across the City for publicity. Its members appealed to the Mayor and the BBMP to allow them to display at least half of the number at nominal rates, as the Chamber could not afford private hoardings.

Listening to their appeals, the mayor has approved in-principle and said that he would take up the matter after the budget session. “We need to encourage the Kannada film industry, as it is our own,” he said.
