Onam feast

They will be presented recipes of more than 25 dishes of the traditional Onam “sadya” through text and videos in a special gallery by www.indiavideo.org in association with Kerala Tourism.

Those who want to make special dishes like “inchi thairu” or “manga pachadi” or “ada pradhaman” can watch the video guides and recipes of the dishes which will be available on the website http://www.indiavideo.org/onam-recipes. Onam, the harvest festival of Kerala, falls on August 23. Even non-Malayalis can test these recipes since the narration is in English.  “This is an opportunity for Keralites all over the world to discover the joy of a homemade ‘sadya’ during this Onam,” said a spokesperson of the website. Around 1.85 million Keralites work outside the state and the video guides will help them to prepare the sadya at home, he said.

Former Minister of State for External Affairs Shashi Tharoor has, in fact, already tweeted about the video, commenting that while he has not himself tried out the recipes, the video has his sister Shobha’s voice.
