Normalcy prevailed on Friday in Kashmir, but reports of clashes after prayers were received from different parts of the state. Police had to open fire in the air and resort to tear gassing and cane charging to disperse protesters. Forty-three people were injured in the clashes.
The police registered a murder case against the CRPF for killing a teenaged boy, Mudasir Nazeer at Sopore, the first such case against the security force in the two-month long rioting that claimed 61 lives.

Mushtaq Ahmad, a police official, said a case under Ranbhir Penal Code, equivalent to Indian Penal Code, has been registered against the CRPF. “As the incident happened late in the evening, we are yet to identify the accused CRPF personnel. But we have started the investigations,” he said. Initial information suggest that the firing by the CRPF was unprovoked, the police officer added.
