A saree soiree

It is said that the charm of six yards of elegance is incomparable. No wonder stars all over the world desire to walk the red carpet in a saree.

Making the concept of Cocktail saree an international phenomenon were the bridal and cocktail sarees at the Samsaara store in Indiranagar.

At this exclusive do, the very best designer creations were on display. Tunics and kurtis are still in fashion, as they are the favourite choice of every designer.

Beginning with Deepika Gihani, whose collection was a total contrast, from lime green and yellow flowy kurta in linen that screamed ‘summer’ to slinky black strappy tops. Manoviraj Khosla’s outfit were straight out of the runway showcased in the 10k run, ‘Kingfisher’ fashion show held recently in the City.

The young, peppy and chic collection in the western line by Asmita Marwah was perfect couture. While another section had a treasure trove of designer sarees.

Light yet extravagantly designer, that's how ‘cocktail sarees’ are differentiated. Made famous by Shobha De, the designer sarees are the hot pick for summers.

Other collections of sarees by designers like Manish Malhotra, Shantanu and Nikhil and Tarun Tahiliani, were also a part of the showcase.

The event also saw famous faces from the City make an appearance. Former model Sharmilla Khanna appreciated the designerwear while Prasad Bidapa, who is also organising a fashion show for the store busily selected outfits for the event, and picked out ethnic outfits that were big on glamour.

The store also included shoes by Namrata Chandra, Kan and Stoffa and designer accessories high on bling. Many women paraded into the store, ‘booking’ their outfits, some travelling abroad, and some for high profile dos that serve as their private red carpets.
