TVS' Joshua triumphs in K-1000

While others fell  by the wayside including reigning National champion and team-mate KP Arvind, Joshua brought all his experience to the fore on the tricky home surface to emerge the overall champion in the second leg of the INRC event.

In a race that was reduced to six Special Stages from original eight owing to delay in proceedings, Joshua clocked 45 minutes and 27 seconds while privateer Asad Khan was seven seconds behind at second. Chethan Ganapathy, also a privateer, finished third in 47:24.

Joshua, who won the season-opener at Coimbatore last month, now leads the riders’ championship.

Arvind, who finished second in the last leg, got stuck four times in the slushy Second Stage -- Silk -- losing a lot of time. He could hardly recover from the setback, his only joy being finishing third in the 131 to 165 cc category.
