One nabbed for posing as Lokayukta official

The accused, Shrinivas (30) was arrested on Monday and a fake indentity card recovered from him, they said.

Police said the man had been blackmailing government servants posing as a junior office assistant of Lokayukta. He had also cheated people posing as a CBI and Income Tax official.
Under the garb of an Income Tax official, he conducted a fake raid at the residence of one Krishna Reddy in 2007 and took away Rs 25 lakh cash, meant for purchasing land.

Later Shrinivas was arrested and jailed for three years. He was released on conditional bail in November 2009.

Subsequently, he carried out another fake raid on the residence of Joint Director Agriculture and showing a duplicate ID card demanded Rs 25 lakh. He ultimately settled for Rs 10 lakh which he frittered away, they said.

A list of various government officials, including those from Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike was found in his possession, police said.
