Well you are not the only one to do this. While most people always have a list of movies that they confidently declare as their favourites, they also have a secret stash that they do enjoy watching time and again but will never admit to doing so.

These guilty pleasures may vary from romantic and slapstick comedies to absolutely trashy cinema, but somehow find their way into everyone’s movie-watching time.

“It is romantic comedies for me. There are times when I pretend to have never heard of a rom-com, about which people may be discussing around me. At those times, my favourite scenes from that very movie would be running through my head,” says Sandeep Varman, a professional in the City.

Many others agree. “I once watched this Sandra Bullock movie continuously for a week on the computer. It is not my favourite but it was highly enjoyable,” says Nidhi, a chartered accountant.

“I once liked a movie called Jack a lot but soon found out that it had got bad reviews. So even though I liked the movie a lot and do watch it, I never really talk about it,” says Shravan, a student.

And while rom-coms seem to be popular among most women and some men, senseless comedies do the trick for a lot more. “I guess Akshay Kumar’s movies would fit into this category quite well. In spite of his numerous flops and the mega-super hits, which should have bombed, I still think the guy has a good comic potential which makes his movies watchable,” says Robin, an IT professional. Many prefer a mediocre comedy when they are in a mood to laugh.

Though they would have watched it time and again because it is either too funny or ridiculous, they never consider it as a favourite. “Something like Kya Kool Hain Hum can come in such a category. There are people who watch it whenever they can but don’t admit it because it was so vulgar,” says Abhinav laughingly.

The same can be said about the numerous ‘American Pie’ movies which are thrashed on the face but watched by every one nonetheless.  But funny as it may sound, many secretly watch some really bad movies and get some pleasure out of the idiocy of the flick.

“There is a movie named Jaani Dushman starring Sonu Nigam and Manisha Koirala. I always laugh so much whenever I watch that movie, not because it was funny, but because it was so damn ridiculous,” says Abhinav, a marketing professional.  “Whenever that movie comes on TV, I watch it for its sheer ridiculousness,” he adds.
