Burglars break into house in Rajivnagar

Decamp with a booty of ` 80,000; NR Police arrest youth on theft charges

House owner Khausser Jhammu, residing in Rajiv Nagar,  was shocked to see her house being robbed on Wednesday night. She was staying at her friend’s residence, along with her children, in Rajivnagar, after returning from a clinic in Agrahara in the evening. When Khausser returned home on Thursday morning she was appaled to see the front door of the house broken open. The valuables kept in the almirah had been stolen.

Khausser’s husband M D Jhammu is a soldier with Border Security Force (BSF) posted in Nagaland. Udayagiri police have registered a case.

Youth arrested

N R Police recently arrested a youth on theft charges and recovered a booty worth about ` one lakh from him.

Rehmath, aged 25 years had lifted two two-wheelers and eight LPG gas cylinders including that of mid-day meal scheme from different places. He had lifted a two-wheeler  in N R Police limits only to abandon it in south police limits. While another vehicle had been lifted from Sayyaji Rao road. Two each of cylinders were lifted from Government School at K R Mill Colony, Karunapura and the houses at Bademakhaan and Udayagiri.

A police team led by Inspector K N Yeshwanth Kumar apprehended him and produced him before a court.

2 wheeler burnt

A two-wheeler was set on fire owing to a property dispute at Gowrishankar Nagar in the city on Thursday. The two wheeler belongs to Mallikarjuna, of railway department and resident of Gowrishankar Nagar.

According to K R Police, Mallikarjuna and Mahadeva, neighbours were friends for several years until their relation began to sour recently. Since then they had differences over a site measuring 60x80 opposite to their house.

According to Mahadeva, he had bought a portion of the site from Mallikarjuna. The latter had declined as and when Mahadeva claimed it.

The duo had knocked at the doors of the police on several occasions. The cops had warned of action, advising them to settle the dispute amicably. On Thursday morning, the dispute got murkier with a moped belonging to Mallikarjuna parked at the site set on fire.

Mallikarjuna accused Mahadeva of the act, while Mahadeva blamed it on Mallikarjuna. Both the parties have lodged separate complaints with the police accusing each other of the incident. Inspector Srinivas and staff visited the spot.

Another 11 held

City police have arrested another 11 persons in 13 cases, on the charges of misusing the documents of genuine customers. Sources said, that they were arrested in a continued operation after the Police Commissioner Sunil Agarwal brought SIM racket to the notice of recent DG and IGPs conference held at New Delhi. In all 91 cases have been registered till date pertaining to the racket.
