BWSSB chairman P B Ramamurthy had recently, in a meeting, conveyed that illegal connections, tampering of meters and other activities that result in additional water intake should be treated as a serious offence.
The officials found Bharat Manofilment & Textile Private Limited, Ginine Products, Mathaji Pasters, Yathiraj, Vahida Khetoon, B H Srinivas, Little Flowers English School, M Murugan, Faiyaz Khan, Nagaraj, T K Raghavendra, Gajalakshmamma, Meena Dhaneshkar, Lokaraju and Vinod Patil guilty of water theft and have registered cases.
A recent amendment to the BWSSB Law treats such activities as criminal offence and prescribes a three year jail term and fine.
