K'taka CM's daughter conferred with NLM-Unesco award

The award was given for the achievements of JSS in the field of skill development.
The JSS, an NGO receiving Central assistance, was reportedly a pet project of Yeddyurappa. He set up the JSS to create jobs for the unemployed youths.
The JSS at Shimoga has been involved in various activities including promotion of adult literacy, skill development and environmental education.

The NLM-UNESCO award was also presented to State Resource Centre for Adult and Continuing Education, Andhra Pradesh. The award was received by G Ramesh, Chairman, SRC and P V Subba Reddy, Director, SRC, AP.
The director of JSS, Cuttak, Namita Mahapatra and JSS, Guntur in AP also got the award.

The Sathyen Maitra Awards and NLMA-UNESCO were given to Chandana Khan, Principal Secretary, AP and P Janardhan Reddy, Director of Adult Education.
The other recipients of the award include the Karnataka government, officials of Gadag district in Karnataka, officials of Jashpur district in Chattisgarh, the Panchayat president of Dokkabodanahalli in Tamil Nadu and Koilari Gram Panchayat in Sarguja district of Chattisgarh.
