The company, in its fourth year of production, is spending around Rs 12 crore in capital expenditure to set up a new oven and in balancing equipments in its plant on Tumkur Road near Bangalore. It has already invested Rs 25 crore so far. Apart from catering to larger demand for its cookies in the Indian market, enhancement in production capacity will help Unibic India to export its products to more number of countries. Talking to Deccan Herald, Unibic Biscuits India Managing Director Nikhil Sen said “Against the industry average of around 12 per cent, our sales are growing at 40 per cent per annum. We have established us as leader in the premium cookies market which accounts for about 10 per cent of total biscuits market in terms of value.”

Unibic India which sells 80 per cent of its products in the retail market, 10 per cent through strategic alliance and 10 per cent in exports, is in the process of expanding all three categories. The best selling brands are Chocolate Chip cookies, Oatmeal cookies, Butter, Cashew, Choconut and Jamz cookies.

In the last two years the company has focused on expanding its distribution and retail sales outlets across India through modern retail, traditional trade and institutions. “We are present in more than 1,00,000 outlets and have extensive coverage across all channels all over India”  said Sen. Unibic will soon announce a strategic tie up with a beverage company and also launch new products in the healthy cookies segment, he added.
