Generation of coal-based power has been decreased since water level in all the hydel reservoirs has gone up, Karnataka Power Corporation sources said.
The first unit of the RTPS has been shut down in pursuance of KPC directions while the second unit has been closed for annual maintenance. The generation in seventh unit has been halted due to leakage in boiler tube and the repair has already begun. With only four units operating, the RTPS has been generating only 800 MW of power per day, while, the daily demand for power in the State stands at nearly 115 million units.
