Puttaraj Gavai was admitted at the hospital for respiratory problems, a week ago.
The master humanitarian, however, failed to respond to the treatment, as his kidneys developed some problem.
As per his wishes and those of his followers, Puttaraj Gavai was shifted in a well-equipped ambulance accompanied by a team of doctors to his Punyashrama in Gadag.
Followers a beeline at the Ashram praying for his speedy recovery.
District-In-Charge Minister B Sriramulu rushed to the Punyashrama and received the musician in the evening.
