Theatre guard killing by cops: 2 held, witness changes version

Mahendra Singh Yadav, a security guard at a local cinema hall, was alleged to have been fatally assaulted by constable Afroz Khan and his accomplice Anil Bhaskar after an altercation over purchase of tickets of a show of the Bollywood hit "Dabangg", where Salman Khan plays a corrupt cop.

Yadav, who received serious injuries, was rushed to hospital by onlookers and theatre staff but was declared brought dead by doctors.
IG (Bilaspur Zone) Arun Dev Gautam told PTI that Khan and Bhaskar have been arrested and Bilaspur collector Sonmani Bora has instituted a magisterial inquiry into the incident.
Sub-divisional officer of Bilha Chandan Tripathi has been asked to hold the inquiry and submit his report within a fortnight, Bora said.

The two have been charged under section 302 of IPC for murder.
Family and friends of the victim have alleged that the incident occurred when Bilaspur SP Jayant Thorat was coming out of the theatre after watching the movie and a verbal duel started between the security personnel accompanying him and the victim following which Yadav was brutally assaulted causing his death.
IG Gautam said Thorat had gone to watch the film but claimed he had left before the incident occurred.

Thorat and seven of his security men were not named in the FIR.
The family of the deceased has alleged that the doctors who performed autopsy on Yadav have been pressured by police into giving a report that no injury marks were found on his body, but both Gautam and Bora have denied existence of any such report.
After the incident, Vinay Sharma, who owns the security company that provides guards to the cinema where Yadav worked, said, "I have witnessed a murder and I want the murderer."

But now, Sharma has retracted saying he wasn't at the cinema when Yadav was killed. He even said Yadav was not his employee.
Collector Bora said the magisterial probe will take into account police and media reports and examine eyewitnesses to ascertain the reasons behind the incident.
