He was speaking during the celebration of Hindi Divas at the Suvarna Central School on Tuesday.

Hindi is spoken in more than half the states in India. Other states have variety of languages. With the foresight that the nation can be united with one single administrative language, experts brought Hindi into force as the administrative language, he said.

However, an argument arose on why it is necessary to use Hindi as the national language and English as the international language. Some people prefer using English for both purposes. This reduced the influence of Hindi language in India. Learning any language only improves once knowledge and personality, said Mariswamy.

A new world will be opened to you when you learn a language that unifies many languages and cultures. It works like a thread that holds the stones in a necklace, he said.

Therefore, Mariswamy added, students and staff in the School will have to compulsorily converse only in Hindi every Wednesday from now, he promised.

Srinivasmurthy from the Tourism Department officer, Bahaddur from the Hindi Pracharak Samiti member, and Devasahayam from the Nehru Yuva Kendra were present.
