Shram Bhushan award goes to BEL ex-staffer

Nagaraja was given the award for 2005 during which he replaced gold plated header used in transistors to nickel plated ones resulting in savings. The headers are used not only by the defence services but are also exported. Nagaraja, who has been nominated for the 2008 Shram Ratna award which will be given away next year, told Deccan Herald that he has decided to donate the Rs 50,000 cash award to needy organisations serving destitutes.
The awardee, who retired as junior section officer, had received the Shram Shri Award in 1995, is also recipient of several awards in Karnataka including Basava Ratna, Ambedkar award and Visvesvaraya award.

Jyothi, senior engineering assistant, BEL, Bangalore, was also given the Shram Bhushan awards for 2005, 2006 and 2007 while  Saraswati Anilkumar, junior section officer, BEL, was given the Shram Veerangana award for 2006.
