With this, the 22-year-old young lady, has broken the notion that only men can act, direct and produce at the same time, “Only Sudeep and actor Ravichandran have attempted something similar. There are a couple of female directors but none of them have taken it upon themselves to act, direct and produce. I must be the only woman,” Priya told Metrolife. And what’s more endearing is that she wrapped up the shooting of the film in just 65 days.

Priya has also used her second directorial after Jambada Hudugi (which was her directorial debut) to promote new talent. While she introduced Yash in the first movie, she has roped in Tamil actor Ravishankar in Bindaas Hudugi.

Priya dubs her experience of juggling umpteen roles as ‘different and difficult’, “Imagine acting, getting behind the camera and making sure your money is not wasted. It was tough. The story traces the life of a young woman who lives life on her own terms and doesn’t bother about what the society has to say. The character is bold and much like the present day woman, who doesn’t shy away from challenges,” explains Priya.

She says she chose the name Bindaas Hudugi because, “My debut film did extremely well and the name Hudugi brought me luck so I thought I would attach a Hudugi to this film as well,” says Priya.

Bindaas Hudugi is a female-oriented subject that’s steeped in comedy and has loads of action packed into it. Priya has done a couple of stunts in the movie, “I am not trained in any form of martial arts but I am a trained classical dancer and that has helped me perform my stunts well. I have never had time to practice any of my stunts but dance has made my body flexible. I can twist, turn and bend with ease,” she says.

Priya has already begun work on her next production, Udayavani which is a love story but of a different kind, she says. Bindaas Hudugi has been largely shot in the City and the songs were picturised in Bangkok and Phuket. It will release by the end of the month.
