At a press meet here, he said the municipal council would not also not implement the laying of the footpath on the VV road till the space required for widening was clearly identified and the confusion was put to rest.

The breadth of the road will be decided after carrying out an analysis on the average traffic density on the road, he said adding that the administration would take the shopkeeper and traders into confidence for any decision.

Asked if the structures identified posing impediment for the widening of the road would be demolished, he said it would depend upon the nature of encroachment.

Third party inspection
On the complaints of shoddy work on many of government projects, he said the administration would not release the money to the contractors if the work they executed under the Chief Ministers Urban and Town Development scheme was found to be substandard.

The money will not be released unless a third party inspection issued a satisfactory certificate on the quality of work.
The members of public can accompany the third party committee, he said adding that storm water drain work in Ashoknagar was stopped for shoddy work, he said.

Illegal structures
He said the administration was firm on adhering to the Supreme Court order to clear the footpaths from the illegal religious structures. A meeting of different religious groups would be soon be convened to resolve the matter.
The structures which are not posing any trouble for the pedestrians will be regularised, he added.
