Last Updated 20 September 2010, 18:06 IST

The demand for fertilisers has increased in the taluk. The supply, however, is not matching the demand. The businessmen are exploiting the situation and charging farmers a lot for the fertilisers. They are also creating a condition of artificial scarcity. The Agricultural Department officials, therefore, should take strict action against such businessmen, they added.

The farmers purchasing the fertilisers are not given receipts. The supply list is not displayed in front of the shops. The farmers, therefore, get cheated, complained the members.
The Taluk executive officers immediately assured the members that appropriate measures would be taken regarding the matter.

Debate over electricity
The members discussed the matter of electricity supply at length.
The transformers that have broken down have to be taken to the repair centre at Kolar. This costs the farmers a lot of money and energy. A new repair centre should be set up in Mulbagal itself, demanded the members.
The list of beneficiaries of various departments are prepared by the heads of the respective departments, who also provide the facilities. The Taluk Panchayat members who were allotted the duty of keeping track of the ongoings are not bothering about such matters, complained some members.

Other topics
The meeting also comprehensively reviewed the progress of animal husbandry, education, forest departments.
Former presidents of the Taluk Panchayat M Venkataramana and Sujata Venkatesh spoke during the meeting.
Taluk Panchayat president Reddappa presided over the meeting and executive officer Venkatareddy provided the necessary information.
