Speaking at the SOS Day celebration, held to mark the 90th birth anniversary of the founder of the movement, the late Hermann Gmeiner here, the minister lauded the service rendered by the villages and said they had provided a new lease of life to thousands of abandoned children across the State.

He said, “You have shown by your work and commitment that an NGO such as SOS can work better than the government in providing long term family based care to orphaned, abandoned children of Karnataka. I will recommend SOS for this year’s award.”
