Suspension order still in force: Govt

In an official release issued here on Monday, the Government said that the fresh order issued on September 16 was just to ‘rectify’ mistakes in the previous order that granted sanction to prosecute the corporator. But it was not an order to revoke his suspension.

A senior Urban Development Department (UDD) official stated that the earlier order was cancelled as the Lokayukta officials had pointed out a few mistakes in the order. But suspension and prosecution orders were still in effect. On July 17, the Lokayukta police had arrested Govindaraju while he was allegedly accepting Rs two lakh from a builder.
