4 arrested in separate cases

Police arrested Francis (42) and Shyam (29) from Austin Town and recovered from them idols of Rama, Lakshmana and Sita valued at around Rs one crore. According to the police, they were arrested while trying to sell the idols at a house on Central Road in Austin Town. During interrogation they said that they got the idols from a man named Swamy in Kerala. Police are ascertaining the period of idols.

In another case, Akilesh Kumar, a B Tech graduate from Bihar was arrested on charges of cheating and recovered a car, a bike and Rs five lakh from him. Akhilesh had allegedly duped a lecturer in Jharkhand of Rs 7.50 lakh, after promising a medical seat in a prestigious college in Bangalore for his daughter. The lecturer realised that he was cheated only when he landed in the City.

In another case, Hitesh Manilal was arrested from RPC Layout in Vijayanagar for allegedly cheating and recovered a car and records from him. According to police, he would submit fake bank bonds and guarantees to bag contracts. He had bagged a contract from Mumbai -based Patel Engineering Limited by submitting fake bonds for more than Rs three crore.

After the incident came to light, a complaint was lodged against him. According to the police, many people might be part of the racket and a search operation has been launched.
