MLA C T Ravi said that a delegation will go to meet Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy seeking the release of funds to take up the work on filling water in the lakes in the district.

Speaking to reporters, he said the DPR is prepared for the same. Initially, the cost was estimated at Rs 850 crore. After including GST, the estimated cost will be Rs 1,000 crore. A delegation comprising elected representatives from the district will go to the chief minister.

“The DPR has already been handed over to MLCs S L Dharme Gowda and S L Bhoje Gowda. In the interest of the development of the district, the district-in-charge minister should lead the delegation,” he said. The chief minister was asked to sanction a special grant of Rs 300 crore to take up rain relief work. However, no funds have been released so far, he added.

He said,”The chief minister had directed the officials to install 200 hp motor to Karagada canal to supply water. However, the officials have neglected the chief minister’s order. Already, there is a low inflow of water to Devikere. The officials should initiate measures to supply water to Karagada canal.”
