Distribute sites immediately, says Bopaiah

MLA K G Bopaiah directed Tahsildar Kusuma to take measures to distribute sites for siteless immediately. The government has already issued a circular to withdraw C and D Land given to the Forest Department, she added.

Speaking at the quarterly KDP meeting here on Saturday, he said, “All should get a roof over their head by 2020. The sites should be disbursed among those who have already applied on a priority basis. A total of 3,000 applications have been submitted to the authorities seeking sites.”

Maragodu Gram Panchayat President Nanda said that those who have applied for sites last year have not been given sites so far. “So what was the use of inviting applications?” he asked.

A few influential persons have encroached burial ground land. In spite of MLA directing to clear the encroachments in the last meeting, no measures have been taken to reclaim the encroached land, he said.

The Forest Department has three lakh saplings to be distributed among the farmers. Already, 80,000 saplings have been distributed.

Each plant costs Re 1, a department official said.

Taluk Medical Officer Dr Parvathi said that there is a shortage of specialist doctors at Sampaje Primary Health Centre. Even an MBBS doctor is not available for Karike PHC, he said.

Assistant Agriculture Officer Manjunath said there is no shortage of fertilisers in the district.

Zilla Panchayat President B A Harish, Taluk Panchayat President Thekkade Shobha Mohan and others were present at the meeting.
