BJP National President Amit Shah has challenged AICC President Rahul Gandhi - whom he called Rahul Baba - to give an account of the administration of his four generations in India.

Speaking at an election rally of BJP candidate D N Jeevraj here at Sringeri on Tuesday, he said the Congress has been demanding an account of Prime Minister Modi’s administration in the last four years.

Now let the Congress give an account of the administration of four generations of Rahul Gandhi’s family, said Amit Shah.

Mockingly, he termed Rahul Gandhi as Rahul Baba throughout the speech.

“Rahul Gandhi should give an account of administration and contribution of his great-grandfather Nehru, grandmother Indira Gandhi, father Rajiv Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi who indirectly ruled when Manmohan Singh was the Prime Minister for 10 years.”

When the Congress was in power, it failed to provide toilets for the poor, free LPG for women, and suitable price for the farmers' crops. Let the Congress speak on it, he demanded.

To give account to Rahul Gandhi, he said, “During the 13th Finance Commission, Karnataka received Rs 88,583 crore while during the 14th Finance Commission, the BJP government has given Rs 2.19 lakh crore. Rs 80,000 crore has been given under Mudra Bank, Urban development and Metro project.”

Though the Modi-government introduced 116 projects for the welfare of labourers, youth and Dalits, the Siddaramaiah-led government in Karnataka has failed to implement it, he alleged.

The BJP government is committed to protecting the interest of arecanut growers, he added.

The BJP manifesto will announce earmarking of Rs 500 crore to carry out research on medicinal values in arecanut. To protect the interest of coffee growers, an international coffee mela will be organised, he added.

He expressed confidence in the BJP winning the election in Karnataka.

Speaking at BJP public meeting in Mudigere, Shah promised to set up arecanut research station if the BJP comes to power in Karnataka.

Alleging that the Siddaramaiah government has not done anything for the welfare of the people, he said in the last five years, 3700 farmers have committed suicide in Karnataka.

He claimed that the farmers' suicide has increased by 173% in Karnataka. In Maharashtra, farmers' suicide has come down by 32% during the BJP tenure.

He further said that the Congress government has neglected the farmers. The import duty on arecanut was hiked to Rs 251 from Rs 162 per kg and this has helped in stabilising the domestic market.

An international coffee marketing centre will be set up in Chikkamagaluru, the land of coffee, he added.

Shah visited Sringeri Mutt and Balehonnur Mutt and sought the blessings of the seers.
