BJP national vice president Om Prakash Mathur expressed confidence of the party’s victory following the strong impulse towards the Modi wave by the people.

Addressing a press meet on Sunday, Mathur said he was also in charge of Uttar Pradesh, which had a similar situation. “The same phenomenon will be repeated here. The Congress is assured of defeat. The number of people gathering for the rally by Narendra Modi itself shows that BJP need not worry about victory,” he said.

‘No impact’

He said neither Jignesh Mewani nor Hardik Patel will have any impact as they are not mass leaders. “They are only meant to divide the society in the name of caste and faith. They cannot be compared to Modi, who is a mass leader. The results will surely reflect his charisma,” he stated. He said Rahul Gandhi too will be of not much use for Karnataka.

Later, elaborating over the BJP state manifesto, Mathur said there are several programmes for the coastal belt which remains underdeveloped under Congress rule. ‘Sab Ka Sath, Sab Ka Vikas’ would be the agenda of the BJP, which will concentrate on the overall development of the belt.

The BJP manifesto promises open markets at required places to help farmers sell their growths without middlemen, he said. An agricultural university will be setup at Belthangady, he said. Three cashew processing units would be set in DK and one in Udupi, he said.

BJP district president Mattaru Ratnakar Hegde said that the Varahi irrigation project would be reverted to offer drinking water and irrigation facilities to the entire district.

He said that, “There will be transparency in sand mining and a public distribution facility will be incorporated for sand distribution. A religious circuit will be set up in Udupi to promote religious tourism. Roads and other infrastructural facilities will be ensured.”
