<p>Filmmaker and theatreperson Sadananda Suvarna called upon the people to utilise opportunities to view good art films.</p>.<p class="bodytext">He was speaking after inaugurating Nitte International Film Festival organised by Nitte Institute of Communication at Bharat Big Cinemas, Bharat Mall in Mangaluru on Monday.</p>.<p class="bodytext">He felt that the film festival is a rare opportunity for Mangaloreans.</p>.<p class="bodytext">During such film fests, one can have an opportunity to view rare films, which are otherwise difficult to watch.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Film Festival coordinator Prof Raviraj Kini said that the NIFF is organised with an aim to build a humane and tolerant society. </p>.<p class="bodytext">Presiding over the inaugural session Nittee (Deemed to be University) vice chancellor Dr Satheesh Kumar Bhandary said that film is an integral part of society.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Unfortunately, the art films have taken a back seat nowadays. NIFF screens art films so that film enthusiasts can make use of the same. There is a message in art films for the society to carry, said the VC.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Student coordinator Dr Maitreya Deshpande was present.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The film festival will be held until April 19.</p>
