Strategies being framed to ensure Congress victory

Congress candidate from Chikkamagaluru, B L Shankar said that the AICC and KPCC have issued directions to conduct meetings in all Assembly constituencies towards drawing and forming strategies to ensure the victory of Congress candidates.

Speaking to reporters, he said that the Congress will seek votes on the basis of the achievements of Siddaramaiah led Congress government in the state during the last five years.

The failure of BJP in the Centre in fulfilling its promises will be the main issue.

The differences of opinions within the party have been sorted out and the party is ready to face elections, he said.

B L Shankar further said that the local MLA has blamed the Chief Minister for not releasing the funds for Chikkamagaluru.

“Meanwhile, the MLA has claimed that he has done exemplary works in his constituency. Both statements cannot be true. If some development projects could not materialize, it is because of the lack of farsightedness of the MLA.”

The UGD works in Chikkamagaluru have not been well implemented.

There is no tally of the expenses and the works. The works are implemented so that they benefit the contractors and not to benefit people.

No good irrigation projects have been formed even though the people have been demanding for the completion of Karagada project and supply of water to Madagada kere and Ayyana kere.

B L Shankar said that he has made efforts to stay in touch with people. No one else from his family is into politics or in contract business.

He added that he has not misused public money. He said he will retire from politics if anyone proves that he has indulged in corruption.

He further said that he will submit his nomination papers on April 23 in the afternoon at the Taluk Office.

KPCC member Sagir Ahmed was present.
