Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday presented his government's five-year report card, the highlights of which were the under-construction Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Kashi Vishwanath Dham, a "riot-free" UP and "successful" handling of the Covid-19 pandemic.

"If you want to see our developmental works, then see Ayodhya and Kashi... if you want to see the developmental works under the Samajwadi Party (SP), then see the boundary walls around the graveyards," Adityanath told reporters.

He also said that no communal riots took place during his tenure. "We gave a riot-free UP... more than 364 incidents of communal riots had taken place during the BSP regime between 2007-2012 and over 700 communal riots had happened during the SP regime between 2012-2017," he claimed.

The saffron-clad CM has been raking up the 2013 Muzaffarnagar communal riots, in which 63 people died and thousands displaced, to target SP chief Akhilesh Yadav.

Adityanath also claimed that the state government had freed over 66,000 hectares from mafia elements.

The chief minister said that during the Covid-19 pandemic, the state government managed to bring hundreds of students from the state, who were studying at Kota in Rajasthan, to UP safely. ''We have successfully tackled the third wave also... the number of active cases has declined substantially in the state... UP has also achieved the distinction of administering the maximum number of vaccines in the country,'' he said.

Adityanath also said that the per capita income in UP had increased and the state had been able to attract investments from outside.

The opposition parties, however, termed the report card a "pack of lies."

A senior SP leader said, "Crimes against women have risen sharply under the BJP regime... this government has chosen to turn a blind eye to the activities of mafia elements of a particular caste."
