Mumbai: Slamming Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his ‘ek hai to safe hai’ poll-narrative, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi said that only one person who has the safe is safe - a reference to the Prime Minister’s businessman friend and Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani.

Priyanka Gandhi, the sister of Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, during the day addressed a rally in Chimur in Chandrapur district and a roadshow in Nagpur city. 

“Now we hear ‘ek hai to safe hai’…. what is safe… safe actually has two meanings…. safe means ‘suraksha’ (safety) and safe also means ‘tijori’…and who has the ‘tijori’…. Adani…yes ‘ek hi safe hai’,” Priyanka said amid a thunderous applause.

She said Adani being present in the meetings led to the toppling of the erstwhile Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government. 

Priyanka lashed out at the BJP-led Maha Yuti government for shifting projects from Maharashtra. “Projects to the tune of Rs 10 lakh crore has been shifted to Gujarat and other states…Maharashtra has lost five lakh jobs…6,000 companies are shut,” she said. 

On the Majhi Ladki Bahin scheme, Gandhi said women should vote for a better life and not because they are getting Rs 1,500 a month. “Why such a scheme was launched just before the elections,” she wanted to know and listed out the Congress guarantees.
