<p class="title">A voter opted to challenge vote under the rule 49MA of RP Act in an incident at Yellur near Padubidiri.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Veerendra Lancy D’Souza alleged that the paper slip generated by the VVPAT showed the name and symbol of a candidate other than the one he had voted for.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The Presiding Officer obtained a written declaration from him on the veracity of the allegation. His complaint, however, was proved false and then, the presiding officer filed a complaint accusing the voter in question of falsely claiming that his vote went to a wrong candidate/party.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Padubidri police are awaiting the court’s permission to register a case and arrest him, Udupi Superintendent of Police Nisha James said.</p>
