<p>Former Union minister and Congress candidate from Anandpur Sahib parliamentary seat, Manish Tewari said that his party’s government at the centre will set up a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to probe the demonetisation ‘scam’ in the country. </p>.<p>Tiwari on Thursday had claimed the scam ran into hundreds of crores of rupees.</p>.<p>“Demonetisation was not only a huge financial scam; it was like the brutal murder of the economy and responsibility needs to be fixed for it. Those guilty need to be brought to book,” he said. </p>.<p>Tewari had declined to contest the 2014 general elections citing ill-health. This time, he is pitted against BJP's alliance partner, the Akali Dal’s Prem Singh Chandumajra and AAP's NS Shergill.</p>.<p>Chandumajra is the sitting MLA from this seat. </p>.<p>Tiwari said that the demonetisation decision, which was arbitrary and dictatorial, had affected people in every section of society, whether it was a daily wage labourer, a middle-class working family or a small or medium entrepreneur.</p>.<p>“We will probe the motives behind demonetisation”, he said. <br /> </p>
