Eye surgeries at this age are delicate: Amitabh Bachchan recounts Gary Sobers incident to explain impaired vision

Amitabh Bachchan had earlier revealed that he was set to undergo a surgery of a 'medical condition'

Bollywood 'megastar' Amitabh Bachchan confirmed on his blog on Monday that he has undergone eye surgery. The star added that it was a 'delicate' one given his age and assured ways that he is recovering from the procedure.

He went on to narrate an incident involving the legendary West Indian cricketer Gary Sobers and implied that his vision is currently impaired. "...at a cricket match with a strong opponent WI was not in a very good position and looked to loose the game .. Gary Sobers sitting in the dressing room and seeing the eventual, opened up his bottle of rum and had a few .. when his turn to bat came he went out and scored his fastest hundred .. when asked how did he do it .. he said when I went out I was seeing three balls .. I was hitting the middle one .. !!!!"

"My eye condition is somewhat similar .. I am seeing three letters for each word and hitting the middle button ..," he added, and thanked fans for all the concern and the wishes.

Bachchan apologised for his grammar, adding that he was facing issues in typing due to his impaired vision.

The matinee idol, who tested positive for Covid-19 last year, had on Saturday revealed that he would be undergoing surgery for a 'medical condition'. Fans had wished him a speedy recovery after his blog post went viral.

Bachchan, meanwhile, remains a force to be reckoned with despite the emergence of younger stars. He was last seen in Gulabo Sitabo, which released directly on a streaming platform as opposed to in theatres. The dramedy received rave reviews and is perceived to be a success.

'Vijay' will soon be seen in the thriller Chehre, which marks his first collaboration with popular actor Emraan Hashmi. The film features Rhea Chakraborty in a key role but the Jalebi star is not visible in the first look poster. Chehre is slated to hit the screens on April 30.

Bachchan will also be the eagerly-awaited movie Mayday, which stars Ajay Devgn.

Big B will be returning to Tollywood with the pan-India movie Prabhas 21, which features Prabhas and Deepika Padukone as the lead pair, The Nag Ashwin-helmed biggie revolves around the concept of the 'inner God' and is slted to hit the screens sometime next year. The buzz is that it may have shades of the yesteryear classic Jagadeka Veerudu Artiloka Sundari, which starred Tollywood actor Chiranjeevi and powerhouse performer Sridevi.
