Mollywood star Mohanlal gets Covid-19 vaccine

Mohanlal was last seen in 'Drishyam 2'

Malayalam actor Mohanlal received the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine on Wednesday at a private hospital in Kochi. The star shared photos of him receiving the shot and thanked the government authorities for carrying out the vaccination drive.

Lalettan's comments come at a time when he is going through a busy phase on the work front. The veteran was last seen in the Malayalam movie Drishyam 2, a sequel to the 2013 release Drishyam. The thriller revolved around the journey of the protagonist and highlighted his attempts at dealing with a 'ghost' from his past. The film was expected to release in theatres but that did not happen due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It was ultimately released on Amazon Prime Video, receiving favourable reviews from critics. A section of the audience, however, felt that the opening hour was not as good as expected.

He will soon be seen in the action-comedy Aaraattu, which features him in a stylish new avatar. The film stars Shraddha Srinath as the leading lady and marks her first collaboration with the mass hero. This is the second Malayalam movie of her career. She made her big screen debut with the 2015 release Kohinoor.

Mohanlal is awaiting the release of Priyadarshan's magnum opus Marakkar, which may prove to be a gamechanger for Mollywood. The biggie is touted to be a period drama and revolves around the journey of a naval admiral. It has a star-studded cast that includes Arjun Sarja, Keerthy Suresh, 'Lady Superstar' Manju Warrier, Kalyani and Suniel Shetty.

It is expected to hit the screens on May 13.

There have also been talks of her teaming up with Jr NTR for a Telugu movie to be directed by 'Guruji' Trivikram Srinivas. The 'Complete Actor' will be reuniting with Drishyam helmer Jeethu Joseph for the eagerly-awaited movie Ram, which stars Trisha as the leading lady.
