JOIN USSalman Khan's 'Radhe' to hit screens on May 13
Bollywood star Salman Khan took to Twitter on Saturday to reveal that his upcoming film Radhe will hit the screens on May 13 much to the delight of his fans. It was supposed to be released last year but that did not happen due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The film has been directed by Prabhudeva and marks his third collaboration with 'Bhai'. The two teamed up for the 2009 release Wanted, a remake of the Telugu movie Pokiri, which emerged as a big hit and opened new avenues for Salman. They also collaborated for Dabangg 3, which made a decent impact at the box office despite releasing amid the ant-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) protests. It remains to be seen whether their latest movie hits the right note.
Radhe features Disha Patani as the leading lady and marks her second collaboration with her Bharat co-star. The cast includes Jackie Shroff and Randeep Hooda. The biggie is likely to have plenty of action scenes and cater to the tastes of the mass audience.
Radhe is one of the most important movies of the year as it may help Bollywood regain its mojo after the Covid-19 lockdown. Films such as Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari and Ramprasad Ki Tehrvi, which hit the screens when theatres were operating at 50 per cent capacity, failed to make an impact at the box office.
The Hindi version of Vijay's Master and the Kiara Advani-starrer Indoo Ki Jawani too sank without a trace. Roohi, which released in theatres on March 11, has opened on a decent note but may not emerge as a crowd-puller as it lacks star power. Radhe, Sooryavanshi and the sports drama 83 may prove to be the knights in shining armour under these circumstances.
Salman, meanwhile, is going through a busy phase on the work front. He will soon be turning his attention to Kabhie Eid Kabhie Diwali, which is touted to be a remake of the Tamil hit Veeram. He also has Tiger 3, the third part of the Tiger franchise in his kitty. The star will be seen in a 'guest role' in Pathan, starring Shah Rukh Khan.
