Geet Sagar wins X-Factor India

Last Updated 03 September 2011, 10:21 IST

Geet won the coveted title yesterday leaving behind Seema Jha from Sonu Nigam's team and Sajda sisters from filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali's team.

The 27-year-old from Gwalior bagged the title by securing maximum public votes. As the winner of the show Geet pocketed Rs 50 lakh and a Tata Manza car.

"I am blank. I am still pinching myself...as I can't believe I have won. I feel hard work and luck both play equal role in your life. The journey has been adventurous and learning. I believe the reality show provided me a platform to show and enhance my singing besides giving me an identity," Geet told PTI.

Though Geet is not reluctant to the idea of singing in films, he has no preferences and is fine with both singing in movies and doing stage shows. "In India there is this bad thing that if you sing in films then only you are considered as a good singer. I want to be a good singer and I believe this is not the only criteria. I feel even doing live shows...performing on stage.. interacting with the audience is important," he said.

This is not the first time Geet has participated in a TV reality show. Earlier he was among the top 130 in the first season of Indian Idol. "I was afraid of failure and that is why I did not do any reality show," he said.

A radiojockey (RJ) by profession, Geet, who was pushed by his father to take up singing, now intends to concentrate more on his skills. "I have not taken up proper training. Now I intend to take training in music. I was keen on taking lessons from Sonu but due to his busy schedule...things might not work out."

Bhansali, Nigam and Ghoshal were the judges for the first season of the Indian version of the reality show.
