<p>Tamil actor Pandu, who acted in over 300 films in various roles particularly as a comedian, passed away in Chennai on Thursday after contracting coronavirus. He was 74.</p>.<p>Pandu, a brilliant artist, was the one who designed the party flag of AIADMK with C N Annadurai's image on it in 1972 at the request of the party founder M G Ramachandran. In interviews to various Tamil channels, Pandu had recalled his coming into contact with MGR through his brother who was in the Tamil film industry.</p>.<p>Sources said Pandu and his wife were detected with Covid-19 on May 5 and were admitted to a hospital. Pandu breathed his last on Thursday morning.</p>.<p>A versatile personality, Pandu carve a niche for himself when the comedy world in Tamil cinema was ruled by the famous Goundamani-Senthil duo. Not just comedy roles, Pandu has also acted in several support roles with popular actors.</p>.<p><strong>Career</strong></p>.<p>He made his full-fledged acting debut with a key role in the 1981 release <em>Karaiyellam Shenbagapoo</em>, garnering attention with his work.<em> The </em>star subsequetly went on to act in films such as <em>Kadhal Kottai</em>, <em>Mazhai</em>, Rajinikanth's <em>Muthu </em>and the Vijay-starrer <em>Pokkiri</em>. He was also part of the actioner <em>Singam</em>, which starred Suriya and Anushka Shetty as the lead pair. The film, which hit the screens in 2009, proved to be a treat for the masses and was later remade in multiple languages. </p>.<p>Pandu was also active in the TV industry and had acted in shows such as <em>Uravugal </em>and <em>Sabitha Engira Sabapathi.</em></p>
