Pravasi Utsav: Flower show draws visitors

A variety of models made from flowers, fruits and vegetables is what one can see at Raja Seat in Madikeri.

As a part of the Kodagu Pravasi Utsav, the Horticulture Department has organised a fruits and flower show at Raja Seat. A larger number of people visited the Raja Seat on Day One.

A model of Cauvery Theerthodbhava Brahmakundike, a demonstration on vegetable and fruits cultivation, models of elephant, peacock, guitar, using tomato, brinjal, and capsicum are the highlight at the flower show.

Models of elephant, deer, tiger, rabbit and octopus have been prepared using flowers and ornamental leaves.A model of a peacock made from vegetables is the highlight of the event.

The models of Mickey Mouse, Spiderman and a race car are attracting children.

Flowers like roses, salvia, chrysanthemum, jasmine, marigold, zinnia, rosea and other flowers have been arranged neatly in pots. The entry fee for flower show is Rs 10 for adults. There is no entry fee for children.

The Pravasi Utsav is being organised to attract the tourists to the district, which was ravaged following flood and lanslides in the month of August. The hotel and resort owners are expecting a good turnout of the tourists during the weekend.

The Horticulture, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Departments have set up their stalls at Gandhi Maidan.
