Four people died and three others were injured, when a speeding tanker ran over them at Jeratgi village, in Jewargi taluk of the district on Thursday morning.
The deceased have been identified as Srikanth Badiger(32), Golu Rajasthani(18),Mohin Bhagwan(18) and Peer Sab Anwar Patel(25). The injured Prakash, Anil and Vijay kumar were admitted at the taluk hospital in Jewargi.
Tension prevailed for a while in the area after the villagers who visited the spot resorted to a snap protest blocking the national highway. A case has been registered at Nelogi police station.
