<p>Nine persons were killed in storm related incidents in Pratapgarh district of Uttar Pradesh, eight deaths were reported from Aligarh, two each from Jaunpur and Mau and one each from Sultanpur, Lucknow and Nawabganj.<br /><br />The storms uprooted trees and electric poles, disrupting vehicular movement and power supply.<br /><br />In Jammu and Kashmir, three persons were killed and three others injured after being struck by lightning in Kishtwar and Rajouri districts of the state.<br /><br />Meanwhile, state officials said that nearly 1,100 animals perished in the unseasonal snow and rains on May 28-29 in Anantnag district.<br /><br />In Himachal Pradesh, day temperatures rose sharply in the lower and mid hills with the mercury touching 42 degree celsius in Una and state capital Shimla recording a high of 28.4 degrees against 25.9 degrees yesterday.<br /><br />The mercury in Sundernagar, Mandi, Nahan, Solan and Bhuntar settled at 37.8, 38.2, 36.8, 34.2 and 34.8 degrees respectively.<br /><br />The heat was also back in the national capital which recorded a maximum temperature of 42.5 degree, 3.2 degrees up from yesterday's 39.2 degrees.<br /><br />The minimum was recorded at 26.1 degrees, two degrees below normal, as against yesterday's 26.5 degrees.<br /><br />The humidity oscillated between 13 and 65 per cent.</p>
