As the Supreme Court on Wednesday by a 4:1 margin concluded that the Aadhaar Act passed as Money Bill is valid law, here is a list of what is going to remain and what is struck down.

Struck down

National security exception, under Section 33 of the Aadhaar Act is struck down which allows the disclosure of "information, including identity information or authentication records, made in the interest of national security."

Section 57, which allowed private companies to access Aadhaar details and make live-verifications like eKYC is struck down.

Linking Aadhaar with SIM cards and bank accounts no more mandatory.

Cannot deny school admissions due to lack of Aadhaar.

Aadhaar is not compulsory to apply for competitive exams like NEET.

No Aadhaar card for immigrants

To remain

Linking Aadhaar with PAN card to stay. The 12-digit UID is required for filing IT returns as well.

Aadhaar must for availing facilities of welfare schemes and government subsidies.
