AIADMK cadres back in action

AIADMK cadres and senior ministers in Tamil Nadu were back in action on Friday soon after hearing resumed in party chief J Jayalalitha’s disproportionate asset case in Karnataka High Court.

The Karnataka High Court on Friday adjourned the hearing of criminal appeals filed Jayalalitha and her aides case with regard to disproportionate of assets.

Justice H Billappa adjourned the hearing to Monday. The special bench of Justice C R Kumaraswamy will be hearing the criminal appeals.

Special prayers were held by party functionaries for Jayalalitha’s victory in the case being heard by a special bench of Justice C R Kumaraswamy.

Dragging the case has increased public sympathy for the former chief minister and despite the Christmas and New Year season, party functionaries are still taking to the streets to express their solidarity with their leader.

Minister for Social Welfare and Nutritious Noon Meal Programme B Valarmathi offered special prayers at Lord Murugan temple in the city.

Minister for Animal Husbandry T K M Chinnayya, Minister for Handlooms and Textiles S Gokula Indira, Minister for Environment Thoppu N D Venkatachalam were among the senior cabinet minister who organised special prayers at various temples in the state.

More than 100 AIADMK workers undertook the 15-km “girivalam” around the Annamalai hills on Friday. Later, they also offered special prayers at the temple before undertaking the gruelling “anghapradakshanam”.

AIADMK MP and former advocate general A Navaneethakrishnan also offered special poojas at a temple here.
